In addition to its urban core, the city has Nairobi National Park, a large game reserve known for breeding endangered black rhinos and home to giraffes, zebras and lions. Next to it is a well-regarded elephant orphanage operated by the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. Nairobi is also often used as a jumping-off point for safari trips elsewhere in Kenya.

Day 1: Nairobi city tour.

On arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta Airport you will be met by Socotra Tours team and then transferred to your hotel after a short briefing. you will be picked from your hotel at 10.00am and start a City Tour of Nairobi. The Nairobi Day tour leads you to the Karen Blixen Museum, located on the farm that the Danish author of the famed memoir Out of Africa lived on from 1917 to 1931. Much of the 1985 Oscar-winning movie adaptation was shot on the grounds. A tour of the house is an intimate experience — in one corner is a lantern that Blixen hung on her veranda to let her ill-fated lover, English hunter Denys Finch Hatton, know she was home, and his monogrammed books still line the shelves. The beautiful gardens and coffee mailing stations still something to be proud of. After this you will proceed to the Giraffe Centre. You’ll be taken back to your hotel by 1:00 pm.

Day 2: Nairobi - Samburu Game Reserve

After a hefty breakfast head North via the shoulder of Africa’s second largest mountain, Mount Kenya, making your way to the Samburu Game Reserve. Proceed for an early-evening game drive in the park famous as the place for the Samburu semi-nomadic tribesmen.

Day 3: Samburu Game Reserve

These days are spent viewing game in Samburu Reserve, exploring its open grasslands and diverse landscapes in search of the variety of wildlife found here. Samburu hosts beautiful forests, springs and rivers, offering stunning scenery. The game park is part of a lava plain that includes varied habitats, from thorn scrub, red dirt and dried river beds, to broken volcanic rock, steep hills and rocky outcrops. This region is home to the uncommon Grevy’s zebra with huge fury ears, gerenuk antelope standing on hind legs to feed, Somali ostriches with distinct blue legs and the shy Oryx. Elephant and crocodile are guaranteed sightings and lion, hippo and giraffe are also found in the reserve. The reserve is also excellent for bird watching, with over 365 species, including varieties of weaverbirds and the martial eagle. Leopard sightings are also a special feature here. Shaba G. The Samburu area is also home to interesting people with a rich heritage, making for a colorful cultural experience.

Day 4: Samburu Game Reserve-Ol Pejeta

You will check out from Sarova Shaba Game Lodge Hotel in the morning. Our representative will assist in parking your belongings into your respective vans. Depart samburu arriving in time for check-in and lunch at sweetwaters tented camp. The Ol Pejeta Conservancy and its sumptuous ranch were once the private domain of famed multi-millionaire, Adnan Kashoggi. After having your lunch, visit the Chimpanzee Sanctuary, a charming haven established by the Jane Goodall Institute to provide sanctuary to orphaned chimps, and the specially protected and fenced refuge of black rhino, with its stunning forty specimens. Have a guided walk in the sanctuary as you take this time to ask any questions you may have. Afternoon will be spent in the camp by the pool or in your rooms at leisure.

Day 5: Ol Pejeta- Lake Nakuru National Park(31 July)

After breakfast depart Ol Pejeta Conservancy for Lake Nakuru National Park. You will arrive at camp with enough time to settle in before lunch with a little time to relax before you go an evening game drive. Lake Nakuru National Park offers you a rare insight into Kenya’s most diverse flora, fauna and wildlife and is famous for its huge flocks of pink flamingoes. The birds throng on Lake Nakuru itself, one of the Rift Valley soda lakes that comprises almost a third of the park’s area. More than 450 species of birds have been recorded here as well as a rich diversity of other wildlife. Lions, leopards, warthogs, waterbucks, pythons, and white rhinos are just some of the animals you might see, and the landscapes range from sweeping grasslands bordering the lake to rocky cliffs and woodland. The park also protects the largest euphorbia candelabrum forest in Africa.

Day 6: Ol Pejeta- Lake Nakuru -Maasai Mara

This Day after breakfast take an excursion to Lake Nakuru where you will have the opportunity to view flamingos, wildlife, hot springs etc. Drive south towards the famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve, via the beautiful savannah grasslands and plains in the Great Rift Valley, magnificent views of Mt. Suswa, Mt. Margaret and Mt. Longonot. This game reserve is among the 9 wonders of the world and is a renowned tourist destination in Kenya, famous for the wildebeest migration along the Mara River. The river is full of Crocodiles and hippos which traverse the Mara. The reserve has high proportions of wildlife and above all one is sure to spot a pride of lions resting or hovering in the fantastic woodland savannah grassland, and also the big five. Other animals expected to be seen in the reserve include; hyenas, antelopes, topis, dikdik, and zebras among others. Enjoy a short game drive en-route to the lodge arriving @1400hrs. Have lunch and after relax with the rest of your afternoon at leisure.

Day 7: Maasai Mara

This day is spent game viewing in Kenya’s finest wildlife park, the Maasai Mara National Reserve. Our Full day games take us in to the search of Africa’s Big Five and the plethora of other wildlife inhabiting this vast Kenyan game reserve. Millions of animals migrate to the Mara from Serengeti in search for fresh green pastures and water. The Mara is the ancestral home of the ancient warrior people – the Maasai. Fiercely proud and self- reliant, traditionally pastoral nomads, who have clung to their ancient way of life; living in harmony with their environment and the wildlife, together with their cattle, with whom they share a strong, almost mystical bond. An optional visit to a Maasai Manyata is an interesting opportunity for you to learn their lifestyles. To be enlightened on the Maasai culture and perhaps enjoy a Maasai cultural dance. Later in the even a bush dinner will be offered ,this dining experience is quite exciting whether it is by the river’s edge where the hippos are grunting or on the plains with unlimited views of the big game.

Day 8: Maasai Mara-Nairobi

We start the day with an early morning game drive from 6.30am to 9.00am you might be lucky to witness hunting.. We depart from our safari lodge/camp at 10a.m and take a drive back to Nairobi through the Maasai Mara Reserve. Then we return to bustling Nairobi, arriving at about 16:00 in the afternoon.

 

Day 9: Nairobi

After breakfast you will be transferred to Jomo Kenyatta Airport for your flight back home and this will be the end of this amazing safari.
